The old school kick & run techniques has proven to be ineffective, outdated and down right dangerous to women. Even current women self-defense programs with catchy titles such as RAD and FAST with slick marketing ploys fall way short in preparing women to survive an attack. These programs only get you filled with false empowerment and use quickly forgotten “tricks” of escape. Effective self defense is not learned by shouting NO and beating on a guy in a padded rubber suit.
Today’s woman is much more likely to know her attacker, she may even be dating him. With more and more women being victims of sexual assault and violence, it is obvious that the programs taught are flawed.
Old-style classes are philosophically sexist in their approach. The people who teach and develop these standard one size fits all workshops teach with the belief that woman should never be taught how to fight, that a woman is not capable of fighting or that fighting will only endanger the woman more.
Women who are dating and are sexually active adults and additionally, those who are involved in BDSM play are not served by classes who teach you how to avoid being attacked by a stranger in a dark alley (a crime scenario that only occurs in less than 5-10% of sexual assaults reported.[1][2])
Those who believe that a single style of martial art is effective are wrong too. It’s typical that those who have study in only one style are convinced that “their” style is the best form of self-defense. The biggest problem with that single style approaches is that they restrict the options that the student can use. Each style has short comings they don’t allow the student to think outside the box. Plus not every person can adapt to a peculiar style due to various body types.
Patrick offers “Full Spectrum” Self-defense, developed from 33 years of mixed martial styles (including but not limited to Tai Jutsu Kenpo , Aikido and Systema) and 22 years of dedication specifically to women’s self-defense. Moreover, Patrick is a defense Engineer with a B.S. in Physics who understands how women can also use science to adapt the techniques taught for maximum effect.
This class is offered to all women (and men) who could fall victim to sexual assault through living a modern lifestyle or being in close proximity to others in their job.
